We are a coalition of determined individuals with the common goal of uniting and empowering people through the use of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) on a global basis

TEACH students of various backgrounds and further their knowledge and understanding of STEAM in different educational settings. We hope
ENGAGE youth by providing exposure to various domains and applications of STEAM.
INSPIRE youth around the globe to seek opportunities and careers in STEAM.
Our Co-President
Shan Lateef

Shan Lateef is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA and he resides in Manassas, VA with his parents and three siblings.
Shan was inspired to found One World due to his passion for neuroscience, public health, and community development. Along with a group of his close friends, he realized that his privileged existence was a dream that many around the world were never destined to have and he was determined bring some of those same STEAM opportunities to his less fortunate peers.
Shan is a published neuroscientist and he aspires to further our knowledge of brain injury mechanisms and translate these discoveries into improved brain health for all.
He is serving as the current President of the Virginia Junior Academy of Science, the Vice-President of his school’s National Spanish Honor Society, and Editor-in-Chief of TEKNOS, Thomas Jefferson High School’s award winning science journal. In 2019 Shan was honored to receive one of two Governor’s STEM Phenom awards of Virginia as well as the National Neuroscience Prize given by the America Academy of Neurology.
Our Co-President
Mason Simms
Mason Simms is in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts program with a concentration in Music Technology at Colgan High School in Manassas, VA where he plays the French Horn in the school wind symphony, serves as the 2021 Class President, and is a member and leader within several other extracurricular activities.
Mason has had a passion for helping people all his life, starting and organizing a toy drive called “Toys For Hati” at age five after the Hatian people were devastated by a massive earthquake. Through his involvement in One World, Mason looks forward to being a part of a team that will make a difference and open the doors to countless opportunities in countless lives. Mason aspires to be a lawyer when he grows up in order to continue positively impacting the lives of others.


Our Secretary and Vice President, Marketing
Sofia Quint-Gutierrez
Sofia Quint-Gutierrez attends Charles J. Colgan High School and is a first-generation Hispanic-American. She speaks Spanish and English fluently. Sofia is a member of Colgan’s Model UN Club, Crew team, Math Honor Society, and Vice-President of the Spanish Club. She enjoys reading, dancing, and listening to diverse genres of music. In the summer of 2019, Sofia will volunteer at the Legal Services Office for Immigrants and Refugees run by Catholic Charities (NGO). She is currently a volunteer at her church and wants to help low-income first-generation children through One World. Her personal goal is to surpass her male colleagues and one day set an example for Latina women in the United States.
Our Treasurer
Paul David Quimby
Paul David Quimby attends Charles J. Colgan High School in Manassas, VA. He is the captain of Colgan’s Varsity Swim Team and a member of the Varsity Crew Team. Paul David has lettered all three years as a swimmer, and was awarded the “character award” by his coach his sophomore year. He is also a member of many service-based organizations and clubs such as, History Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Model United Nations as well as being the Secretary of French Honor Society. As a sophomore, he was the sole recipient of the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) leadership scholarship award for Colgan High School and attended the HOBY Leadership program at James Madison University in May 2019. Outside of school, he swims and coaches for his community swim team, the Meadowbrook Makos, and is the Director of Social Media for Virginia High Schoolers for Biden.
His passion is providing equal opportunities for all. Paul David joined One World so that he could pursue his dream of helping others and therefore make a positive impact onhis community. When he graduates, Paul David aspires to become an international lawyer due to his immense interests in international relations and foreign policy.


Our Vice President, Diversity Outreach
Leena Sherdil
Leena Sherdil attends Charles J. Colgan High School. In addition to speaking English, Leena is fluent in Arabic and French. She also takes part in the crew team at her high school. In her free time, she enjoy horse-back riding, playing soccer, spending time with friends and family but most importantly, Leena loves helping the less fortunate and volunteering. In the future, she would like to pursue her studies in the medical field in order to help disadvantaged citizens.
Leena Sherdil is very excited to be part of the organization that will inspire youth across the world to pursue STEAM careers.
Our Vice President, Public Relations
Delaney Walts
Delaney Walts resides in Prince William County and attends Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School for the Fine and Performing Arts where she concentrates in dance. Throughout her high school career, Delaney has explored her interests in S.T.E.A.M. through being
a junior officer in the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, playing violin, being cast in multiple of her school’s musicals, and participating in the local and state science fairs where she received multiple awards. Delaney’s scientific endeavors culminated with her invitation to compete in the international science fair in Anaheim, California.
Delaney decided to join One World because she believes that today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators. She advocates for youth in local and international communities to be provided with the resources and opportunities that will allow them to become the
best possible versions of themselves. In the future, Delaney aspires to become an OBGYN so that she can improve and advocate for the lives of women.

Help Us Grow
The One World board comes up with new ideas for conferences, camps, seminars, and workshop every day. We work with local schools and churches to increase STEAM awareness and help bring in a vast array of opportunities. We also continuously fund-raise to provide technology resources for students locally and globally. If you work at local school or would like us to come and implement activities in your community, let us know. We want to hear from you!
